After reaching the plateau, I continued until I reached a small brook where I stopped to have a bite and refill my water bottles. My feet were in great shape, which isn't surprising as I'd made a special point of encasing them in protective tape, moleskin (the good stuff) and band-aids the night before. It's amazing how much extra energy you have when your feet aren't lodging formal complaints with every step.

Halfway across the plateau, to the South, this craggy outcrop of granite presents itself for no good reason whatsoever. Someday I'd like to come back and spend a day climbing to the top of that thing. That would teach it. Maybe next Summer?
