Palisade Basin is a deep canyon, and early mornings in such places are stunning because of the way the the dawn's first light hits the high ridges. This is the first thing you see in the morning here, the second being a pair of mean old boots.
During the night, I had another idea. The folded socks I was using to push my feet back in the boots were also causing my heels to rub, creating hot spots which were just about to make the leap into blisterhood. Maybe the heel friction could be reduced by draping another pair of thin socks down between the heel and the back of the boot! It was certainly worth a try, but Dammit! Will it work? Stay tuned...
