Much the same as the trail leading to Pinchot Pass, the trail here climbs gradually in places, then with sudden jumps to the next plateau, then gradually again for a while, up to the foot of the pass. Here, looking back in the direction of Mosquito Hell (Upper Basin) you can see all the way across to the high valley where today's hike started, about 3 hours earlier. Amazing how far you can walk in three hours.
