Everyone should see something like this first thing in the morning. The night before was
strangely warm, almost to the point where I couldn't use my sleeping bag, even with the
zipper all the way open. So, it was easy to get up early and finish up my breakfast. My
goal, each day, was to try to hit the trail before 7:30, which I managed on all but one
day. As this day was going to involve extensive downhill stretches, I felt it was time
to deploy Operation Wiggle Room. This meant wearing only a thin, inner sock, and using a
triple-folded thick sock between the front of my foot and the boot, to force the foot as
far back in the boot as possible, sparing my toes the wear and tear they otherwise would
have suffered. "But Dammit man, will it work?" Stay tuned...
