Aside from the expansive beauty of this valley, you'll note the murky haze in the air.
This was not an exposure problem with the camera, but the sinister pall resulting from a
huge fire burning at that time about 50 miles South in Sequoia National Park. I missed
the worst of it, from what other hikers told me, but even so, the canyons were often
shrouded with the smokey remains of thousands of pines.
