As you gain elevation, passing through Upper Paradise Valley, you see some spectacular rock. This monolithic wall, seen here from a distance of about one mile, just keeps getting more impressive as you approach. Note the integrity of the granite. Quite a contrast to the crumbling examples we'll see about 20 miles away.
