The first day on the trail is always the hardest. I thought I was in pretty good shape
for this hike (and I was) but I was wrecked by the time I reached camp. I could only
stagger to the first likely spot, drop the pack and plunk (yes, I actually plunked) down
on the nearest log. Famished and exhausted, I didn't have the energy to set up the tent
OR make dinner. So I just sat there, like this, for about 30 minutes, feeling just the
way I look. Somehow, I found the wherewithal to set up the camera to capture this golden
moment.
